Uttoxeter and Musselburgh abandoned
Tomorrow's meeting at Uttoxeter has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track while the weather has also claimed Friday's meeting at Musselburgh.
Clerk of the course at Uttoxeter Keith Ottesen announced an 8am inspection due to an adverse weather forecast and a substantial amount of overnight rain has left conditions unraceable, with no hope of sufficient improvement.
“We’ve had to abandon I’m afraid as the course is waterlogged,” said Ottesen.
“We were worried that we could get a lot of snow overnight but in fact it came as rain and we have had 12 millimetres up to 8am this morning.
“It is due to continue raining for much of the day so we have no chance of racing and have been able to make an early decision.”
Friday's meeting at Musselburgh has meanwhile been abandoned due to a frozen track.
Clerk of the course Anthea Morshead announced an 8am inspection for this morning to assess the prospects of racing on Friday but with conditions showing no signs of improvement, she has decided to draw stumps.
“Unfortunately we’ve had to abandon as the track is still partly frozen,” said Morshead.
“We are up to 3C now but that is the warmest it is going to get and we are forecast another frost tonight and another one on Thursday night, so we have no chance.”
