Uttoxeter for inspection

Uttoxeter’s meeting on Thursday is subject to an 8am inspection on Wednesday morning.

The course is currently frozen in places, but it is the weather forecast that is giving clerk of the course Keith Ottesen most cause for concern.

“We were in good shape on Sunday but we had another frost on Monday morning and there are still some frozen areas,” said Ottesen.

“The forecast is the big problem as we are forecast 20 millimetres of rain and as the cold band of weather is due to be over us, that could equate to as much as eight inches of snow.

“We are forecast daytime temperatures of 2C tomorrow, which would certainly not be enough to shift it.

“If the forecast is correct, then we have no chance of racing.”
