Uttoxeter abandon chase events

Thursday’s two chase races at Uttoxeter have been abandoned due to waterlogging.

The Staffordshire venue will instead stage an all-hurdle and bumper card after a sharp thaw left the chase course unraceable.

Clerk of the course Keith Ottesen said: “We thawed out yesterday, but parts of the chase course were left waterlogged.

“We are looking at a possible 10 to 12 millimetres of rain, but it is forecast to fall as snow – which equates to around four inches.

“Given that, there was no chance with the chase course.

“The hurdle track will take plenty of rain, though, so we will see how it goes.”
