Haydock facing weather battle

A frozen track and the possibility of snow means prospects of racing at Haydock on Wednesday are bleak.

The weather at the Merseyside course is expected to remain cold and 15 millimetres of rain is forecast which could fall as snow.

As a result, an inspection will be held at 3pm on Monday.

ā€œWe are not fit at the moment and the weather forecast isn’t very helpful either,ā€ said clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright.

ā€œIt’s frozen at the moment and there’s a chance of snow. It’s not looking brilliant.

ā€œIt’s not a certainty but there’s a very strong chance it will be snowed off.

ā€œIt might be we’ll have another inspection but we’ll have a look tomorrow and take a view.ā€
