Wincanton anounce Saturday check

Officials at Wincanton will stage an 8am inspection on Saturday morning to assess the prospects for their St Stephen's Day meeting.

While conditions are improving, clerk of the course Barry Johnson admits it is currently a difficult one to call.

“I’m still fairly confident but temperatures have not risen today as they should have done,” said Johnson.

“There are still one or two frozen areas and we are forecast temperatures of minus one tonight and the same again Friday night.

“I’m still very hopeful but as temperatures haven’t risen as expected, there is still an element of doubt.”
