De Bromhead sizes up Europe opposition

Henry De Bromhead’s stable star Sizing Europe came through his latest workout with flying colours ahead of his run in the Bord na Mona with Nature Novice Chase at Leopardstown on St Stephen's Day.

The Grade One-winning hurdler is unbeaten in three starts over the larger obstacles but De Bromhead admits he faces his most difficult task to date over the festive period.

“Everything was good this morning and he seemed in good form, so we were happy,” De Bromhead told At The Races.

“I thought taking on Harchibald and Bobs Pride was big test and he seemed to do that well, but he is obviously stepping up to a Grade One now.

“He’s been brilliant so far, loves jumping and seems to really enjoy it.

“It’s exciting and it looks a really good race. You’d have to be respectful of most of them, in fairness.

“I thought Captain Cee Bee was very impressive in Naas on heavy ground, Sports Line was good in Navan, so it’s a serious race.”
