Uttoxeter forced to check
Tomorrow’s meeting at Uttoxeter is subject to an 8am inspection due to the threat of frost.
With temperatures dipping below freezing this week frost covers have been deployed over the entire course in an attempt to beat the elements.
Clerk of the course Keith Ottesen said: “It is purely precautionary based on the forecasts.
“It will get down to about minus two or three overnight but we are completely covered at the moment with the frost sheets which does gives us protection.
“We had no frost yesterday but the bit of rain that fell is slightly frozen.
“We would race without a problem today and we have done all we can so all we can do is hope.
“It is a massive day for us as every bit of hospitality is sold what with Christmas parties and everything so I hope we race.”
