O'Neill to keep options open for Albertas Run

Jonjo O’Neill will allow the dust to settle on Albertas Run’s return to form at Ascot over the weekend before making definite plans for the 2008 RSA Chase winner.

The Trevor Hemmings-owned eight-year-old had failed to put his head in front since that Cheltenham win until he dropped back to two miles and three furlongs on Saturday.

However, he has run some solid races in defeat, including when second to Kauto Star in the King George VI Chase last St Stephen's Day, and the William Hill-sponsored event may again feature on his agenda.

O’Neill said: “He came out of the race in good order and I was delighted with him.

“It was pleasing to see him back in winning form, especially over a shorter trip.

“I guess we will give him a few days now and then have a chat with Mr Hemmings and his racing manager (Mick Meagher) and to make a plan.

“The Peterborough Chase is one option and I know Mr Hemmings is keen to have another crack at the King George.”

The sponsors quote Albertas Run at 12-1 for the Christmas highlight.
