Rain claims Hexham card

This afternoon’s meeting at Hexham has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

Clerk of the course James Armstrong was forced to call off the meeting after a 7.30am inspection.

He explained: “We have had an inch of rain now and there’s large areas of waterlogging and some patches of false ground.

“We were forecast half an inch but we’ve had double that and we could get another 10 to 12 millimetres this morning.”
