Beauty out of Cup bid

Profound Beauty is to miss a second tilt at the Emirates Melbourne Cup in November.

Dermot Weld, already twice a Cup winner, saddled the mare to finish fifth in the great Australian race last year and was well fancied this time around.

But Profound Beauty’s owners Moyglare Stud Farm are believed to be against a repeat expedition.

“It’s a decision by the owners that they don’t want to run in the Melbourne Cup,” Mark Weld, son of the trainer, told The Irish Times .

“She worked really well yesterday morning and looked to be back to her summer form.

“But the owners have decided not to go.”
