Christophe Soumillon is set to make a dramatic return to action at Longchamp today – less than four weeks after fracturing his elbow.

The French jockey is to partner Oiseau de Feu in the Total Prix de la Foret and Tamazirte in the Qatar Prix Daniel Wildenstein, both for trainer Jean-Claude Rouget.

He is also expected to replace the injured Christophe Lemaire on Stacelita in the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe tomorrow.

It had been thought Soumillon would be out for four months when he sustained his injury in a dramatic fall at Nancy last month.
