Munsef team ponder Melbourne raid
Ian Williams will consider the possibility of a Melbourne Cup tilt with Munsef after the seven-year-old’s “desperately unlucky” second-place finish in the Stockholm Cup on Sunday afternoon.
The recent Chester winner was touched off by just half a length in Taby under Jim Crowley, and Williams will now consult owner Dr Marwan Koukash about a trip Down Under in November.
“He was desperately unlucky as he was boxed in on the rail and the winner got away,” said Williams.
“He ran on strongly towards the line, but it was too late.
“Dr Koukash travelled over there to see the race. I haven’t had a good chat with him yet, but the Melbourne Cup is something we will discuss.
“He is guaranteed a run so it is something to consider, and it would be nice to do.”
