Arm injury for Soumillon
Christophe Soumillon is facing a spell on the sidelines with an arm injury following a fall at Nancy today.
Soumillon's mount, Burlada, was in the lead when she jinked, causing the Belgian to be unseated.
The injury is thought to have happened when he was kicked by one of the trailing field.
His agent, Edith Dutertre, said: "Christophe is quite all right, he is now at the hospital in Nancy, near the racetrack.
"He is talking to his wife on the phone and everything seems to be all right with his head.
"The only problem is with his elbow, which hurts a bit, so they are doing examinations.
"Right now everything seems OK and we are waiting for more news.
"At the beginning we thought it was broken, but it looks like it might not be so we are waiting for the results of the X-ray."
Dutertre later confirmed Soumillon has fractured his elbow and will undergo surgery on the injury.
She added: "We have just been informed that Christophe has an open fracture of his elbow.
"They are going to operate later and we don't really know how long he will be out at the moment."
