Silver Grecian faces Ballydoyle battalion at Doncaster

John Ryan’s Silver Grecian will have to fend off an army of Aidan O’Brien runners if he is to maintain his unbeaten record in Saturday’s DFS Champagne Stakes at Doncaster.

Silver Grecian is one of 11 to stand their ground, of which seven are trained by the Ballydoyle maestro.

Silver Grecian will also have to carry a 3lb penalty for his win in the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket.

O’Brien has entered Await The Dawn, Beethoven, Black Quartz, Emperor Claudius, Lastofthemohicans, Lord High Admiral and the regally-bred Viscount Nelson.

Mark Johnston could unleash his impressive Newcastle winner Layali Al Andalus while Godolphin’s sole entrant is Poet’s Voice, third in the Acomb.

Rod Millman’s Roi de Vitesse is the only other possible at this stage.
