Hamilton fit for racing

Racing at Hamilton this afternoon will go ahead after the track passed an early morning inspection.

A check had been called for 8am but by 7.30am clerk of the course Hazel Peplinski was able to give the meeting the green light.

“Racing goes ahead,” said Peplinski. “The forecast is fine for the rest of the day, it is supposed to be dry with maybe a shower but that is it.

“We were quite close to having to abandon, we had five and a half millimetres overnight but the forecast was for between five and ten so thankfully we were at the lower end.

“We’ve had three and a half inches of rain in the last 10 days so it will be very testing indeed.”
