Longchamp looks likely for Name
A trip across the Channel could be on the cards for Famous Name after he bagged his third successive victory in the Desmond Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.
Dermot Weld’s four-year-old made light of the testing conditions as he eased four and a half lengths clear of his nearest pursuer passing the post.
Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager for owner Khalid Abdullah, feels the Dansili colt is now ready for a return to the highest level and the Prix du Moulin at Longchamp is a race under serious consideration.
“We’re delighted with him and he did it very nicely indeed. He hardly came off the bridle really so we’ll have to look at stepping him up in class again now,” said Grimthorpe.
“We’ll have a look at something like the Prix du Moulin at Longchamp for him.”
