Fiulin chasing Freer spoils
Marco Botti has high hopes a mid-season break will have helped Fiulin regain his best form as he prepares to take his chance in the CGA Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury tomorrow.
The Galileo colt ran out an impressive winner of a Nottingham Listed race on his first start of the current campaign but then failed to deliver in Group company at York and Sandown.
Botti feels his charge needed some time off in order to help him freshen up and is now confident he is ready to go to war once again.
“We decided to give him a bit of a break after his last run and he has been working nicely at home recently,” said Botti.
“He didn’t have any problem after Sandown and came out of the race fine but we just felt he could do with some time to freshen up as he ran a bit flat.
“He seems in good order now but it is a competitive race and looks more like a Group Two than a Group Three.
“We will take our chance and we hope the ground will stay good.”
