Poet returns to Godolphin
The Godolphin team have confirmed that exciting prospect Urban Poet has returned to their care following his fine effort in defeat at Glorious Goodwood.
The Dynaformer colt was bought for £2.9m by Sheikh Mohammed’s chief bloodstock advisor John Ferguson as a yearling and was then sent to Mark Johnston for the start of his racing career.
After scoring by nine lengths on his debut at Hamilton, the three-year-old put up a sterling performance to finish third in the Group Three Gordon Stakes and has now returned to run under the Godolphin banner.
“Obviously we send a lot of horses to Mark and he starts them off and gets them going. He recommended that Urban Poet came back to us,” said racing manager Simon Crisford.
“He’s come back for his next few races as well as the winter ahead. We don’t know what we are going to do with him yet, but we’ll get him going soon enough.”
