Tom Dascombe is still mulling an offer to take over as trainer at footballer Michael Owen’s Cheshire yard.

Owen’s spokesman confirmed earlier in the week that Nicky Vaughan has been suspended from his position as trainer to the England international, pending a disciplinary hearing.

Dascombe was swiftly reported to be in the frame to take over at Manor House Stables in Malpas and he is currently considering a switch from his current base in Berkshire.

“I have talked to my wife about it and it’s for me to decide,” he said.

“Unfortunately I have had to rush into telling my staff and my owners the news but I have not made a decision. Nothing is signed.”

Dascombe has enjoyed a flying start to his training career, sending out Classic Blade and Firth Of Fifth to Pattern-race success last year, while Don’t Tell Mary and Danehill’s Pearl have claimed Listed glory this term.
