Prendergast keen on Flash Stakes chance
Kevin Prendergast has high hopes for Alshahbaa in the Group Three Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown tomorrow.
Alshahbaa made a pleasing debut on heavy going at the Curragh eight weeks ago when a winning a six-furlong maiden by four lengths.
“She’s done very well. We’ve been waiting for the ground for her and it is easing there for tomorrow. She’s by Alhaarth and some of them like an ease in it, so I think the ground should be fine for her,” said the Friarstown trainer.
Prendergast also saddles Velvet Flicker in the six-runner field in a bid to get some all-important black type for the daughter of Fasliyev, who carries his wife’s colours.
“We are trying to get black type for my own horse (Velvet Flicker) but Alshahbaa is the one Declan (McDonogh) has chosen to ride so hopefully she can win for Sheikh Hamdan,” he added.
“Velvet Flicker belongs to the firm, so if she got some black type it would be good.”
Aidan O’Brien looks to have a strong hand in the race with his two runners, Famous and Cabaret, while Kitty Kiernan and Strandhill complete the line-up.
