Ban would be costly for Hughes
Richard Hughes will miss the July Cup meeting at Newmarket after picking up a six-day ban (July 6-11) for careless riding at Windsor on yesterday evening.
Hughes won the Pertemps Network Maiden Stakes on Saturn Girl and while the winner was allowed to keep the race despite a long stewards’ inquiry, the jockey was handed a hefty ban.
The suspension could have major repercussions for Hughes as Paco Boy, impressive winner of the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot last week, is still under consideration for the feature race of the meeting.
