More success for Hills at Ascot

Barry Hills' Ghanaati routed the opposition to add the Coronation Stakes to her 1000 Guineas win today.

Having been 33-1 for her Newmarket success, she was sent off the 2-1 favourite to oblige despite a stellar cast in the feature on day four of Royal Ascot.

She was slightly keen early, but Richard Hills kicked on in the straight and she came home well clear of the running-on Reggane, with Rainbow View, who did not have clearest of passages, third.

The winners of the English, Irish and French 1000 Guineas were all in attendance, as well as a clutch of other well-regarded fillies.

However, such was Ghanaati's dominance she broke the track record - without being pushed by any of her rivals as there was two lengths back to the second.

Reggane - having only her third ever race - looks sure to come on for the run while Rainbow View may have finished slightly closer but for meeting with interference.

French Guineas winner Elusive Wave was fourth but Again, winner of the Irish Guineas, was never in contention.

Charlie Hills, son and assistant to the winning trainer, said: "She's so professional. She is a beautiful stamp of a filly and is just getting better and better. She's class.

"She's still relatively inexperienced and that is only her fourth run so hopefully she has the right attitude to improve again.

"I doubt very much that my father has ever had a filly as good as her, even after 40 years."
