Jockey Johnny Murtagh will miss the final two days of Royal Ascot next week after losing an appeal against his suspension at Epsom.

He was banned for five days for causing interference on Frozen Fire in the Coronation Cup.

Had he been successful in reducing the ban by a day he could have had it deferred until after the Royal meeting.

Murtagh also lost his £500 (€583) deposit.

Trainer Aiden O'Brien will have to make other plans for his intended runners in races like the Coronation and Harwicke Stakes next week.
