Nasmiah plans in limbo

Clive Brittain is still undecided whether Nashmiah will take her chance in the Boylesports Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh next weekend.

The filly won her second Listed race of the season at York on Friday, having struck at Lingfield in March.

Sandwiched between those two victories, however, was a dismal performance in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.

“We’ve left her in (the Irish 1000 Guineas), so we’ll make a decision later on in the week,” said Brittain.

“It depends what the ground is like, and what else is in there.

“She won despite the ground at York – on better ground she would have won easier, despite giving 3lb away.

“I was pleased she showed her Newmarket form to be all wrong, that was just a blip.

“We’ve got a nice filly for the rest of the year and if we miss Ireland, we’ve got Ascot coming up.”

Brittain has Ascot in mind for unbeaten juvenile Misheer, also a winner at York on Friday.

“She won’t run again until Ascot,” he said.

“She’s had the second race for experience and she proved she was able to battle.”
