Ankle injury rules out Walsh

Ruby Walsh is set for a spell on the sidelines after fracturing his ankle in a fall at Killarney on Sunday.

The rider was aboard the ill-fated Imperial Hills in the Ladbrokes Odds On Loyalty Card Handicap Hurdle when he came down at the third last along with two others.

Walsh missed his intended rides on Monday and orthopaedic surgeon Bill Quinlan has now confirmed his injuries are more serious than first thought.

“Ruby saw Bill this morning and he has fractured his left ankle,” his agent and sister Jennifer Walsh told the Racing Post.

“He has been told he will be out for between four and six weeks.”
