Magnusson plots path paved with gold

Saturday's impressive Newbury winner Bridge of Gold is likely to have one more low-key outing before Mikael Magnusson steps him up in grade.

The Lambourn trainer was glowing in his praise for the Giant's Causeway colt after he pulled just under two lengths clear in a division of the mile maiden.

"The horse ran very green at Newbury and he will first run in a conditions race in mid-May. I have a couple of races in mind - I believe there's one at Newmarket," said Magnusson.

"After that there are a couple more options. One is the French Derby, but I am just worried that will come a little bit early for him.

"Otherwise there is a Listed race at Royal Ascot. He would then have a break and be brought back for an autumn campaign.

"He will need a bit further, and Giant's Causeways get better as the season goes on.

"He has come out of the race flying, and I think the world of him."
