Delegator remains on course to make his eagerly-awaited seasonal debut in the banshahousestables.com Craven Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday despite being given an entry in another Classic trial.

Trainer Brian Meehan has stressed he has only put the Dansili colt in the Bathwick Tyres Greenham Stakes at Newbury on Saturday as a precaution.

“Delegator has come out of his work last week really well and we are looking forward to the Craven,” Meehan told his website.

“I have entered him in the Greenham, but that is just a contingency in case something unforeseen happens.”

Delegator is a general 8-1 shot for the Stan James 2000 Guineas back at Newmarket on May 2 after a gamble last week, following an impressive workout on Thursday, saw his odds tumble from 25-1.
