Cheltenham to salute Mon Mome
John Smith's Grand National winner Mon Mome is to parade at Cheltenham's evening meeting a week on Friday, when he will also have a race named in his honour.
The Aintree hero's trainer Venetia Williams and owner Vida Bingham are expected at Prestbury Park for the Mon Mome Handicap Chase.
The extended three-and-a-half-mile contest is due off at 7.20pm.
Cheltenham's managing director Edward Gillespie said: "People always like to see the Grand National winner.
"As we were planning for next week's meeting, we thought this was the next obvious opportunity for people to congratulate Mon Mome and his connections.
"Mon Mome won here in December and he's trained fairly locally, which was a good start, and as it's a long-distance chase - the race was the right one."
