Punchestown possibility for Air Force One

Charlie Mann is planning to apply headgear to Air Force One in a bid to calm the chestnut down next time.

After fine seconds in the Hennessy and at Ascot, Air Force One has failed to set the world alight in the King George, Gold Cup and Thursday’s totesport Bowl, when sixth.

A winner at last year’s Punchestown meeting, Mann may try to salvage something from the campaign back in Ireland.

ā€œI hope he’ll go to Punchestown,ā€ said the trainer.

ā€œHe’s still slightly buzzy and I might put something on his head next time.

ā€œOn his form with Madison Du Berlais he should have been thereabouts on Thursday so I’m disappointed.

ā€œHe’s in the Scottish National and he wants a trip – he’d be ideal for next year’s Grand National but he’s probably not quite good enough for the Grade Ones and he’ll probably have top weight then.

ā€œI’m caught between the sea and the sky really.ā€
