Nacarat Aintree plans in limbo

Tom George has not ruled out the possibility of Nacarat locking horns with Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up Denman in the totesport Bowl at Aintree next month.

The eight-year-old ran out a hugely impressive winner of the Racing Post Chase at Kempton last month, with connections having deliberately sidestepped the Cheltenham Festival with Merseyside in mind.

George’s gelding could contest either the totesport Bowl over three miles or the two-and-a-half-mile John Smith’s Melling Chase.

“He’ll be entered for both races and we will just have to see how the entries look,” said the Gloucestershire handler.

“We are a different type of horse to Denman really as we’re a speed horse.

“But we’ll just have to see what happens and we’ll make our choice nearer the time.”
