Mullins mare on comeback trail
Willie Mullins’ smart mare J’y Vole makes her long-awaited return in the Shamrock Handicap Chase at Gowran Park tomorrow.
The six-year-old enjoyed a fine campaign over fences last season, winning three times including the Grade One Dr PJ Moriarty Novice Chase at Leopardstown.
She has not been seen in racecourse action since finishing down the field at Auteuil last June but Mullins is confident she is in good form ahead of her reappearance.
“She schooled at Leopardstown with the Cheltenham horses and she jumped from fence to fence that day under John Cullen,” said Mullins.
“I’m hoping she has improved as much as Quevega and I would be hopeful for tomorrow.”
She will face a stiff examination in the two-mile contest with the likes of Central House, Conna Castle and Tumbling Dice likely to give her plenty to think about.
