Thornton stood down

Robert Thornton is expected to be fit to partner Voy Por Ustedes in the Ryanair Chase on Thursday despite being stood down for part of Wednesday’s Cheltenham card.

Thornton suffered a heavy fall from Big Zeb in the Seasons Holidays Queen Mother Champion Chase and after sustaining a nasty kick, he missed his final two rides of the day after being taken to hospital.

His boss Alan King said: “He got a kick in the kidneys and they have taken him to hospital but he looks like he is going to be OK.”
