Ben disappointment for King

Leading contender Bensalem has been ruled out of Friday’s Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham after a dirty scope.

Leading contender Bensalem has been ruled out of Friday’s Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham after a dirty scope.

The six-year-old chased home the smart Diamond Harry on his latest visit to Prestbury Park and was set to step up to three miles for the first time on the final day of the Festival.

Trainer Alan King is understandably disappointed he will not be taking his chance, but feels he will be back in racecourse action before the end of the season.

“He’s not going to run on Friday as he didn’t scope well enough. He’s too good to risk, but hopefully we’ll have him back to Aintree,” said King.
