Rambling Minster aiming for Grand National

All roads lead to Aintree for Rambling Minster following his impressive display in the Blue Square Gold Cup at Haydock on Saturday.

The 11-year-old had most of his rivals in trouble a long way from home in the Grade Three contest before securing a three-and-a-half-length success.

Rambling Minster suffered a slight overreach during the race but his trainer Keith Reveley does not anticipate it holding him up too much.

“He did get a slight overreach but he is absolutely fine and it certainly won’t lay him off at all,” said the Saltburn handler.

“We were absolutely over the moon on Saturday as he really jumped from fence to fence and did everything right.

“It was a smashing trial for the National.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes, to be honest, and I would think he would go straight to Aintree now as I can’t think of another race between now and then that would be suitable really.

“I know it was heavy at Haydock but I don’t know how he got away with it as he’s a good-ground horse.

“We will have to see what the weather does, but he is at his best on good ground.”
