Uttoxeter set for inspection

Uttoxeter's meeting on Saturday is subject to a precautionary inspection at 8am tomorrow.

The track has nearly thawed out but an adverse weather forecast has forced officials into action.

"We were heavy waterlogged in places. Now we are heavy with frost in places but the whole course is under cover," said clerk of the course Keith Ottesen.

"We've called a precautionary inspection for 8am tomorrow just in the light of the forecast we have received.

"It could be rain, it could be sleet or it could be snow and we could get anywhere between six to 12 millimetres of whatever it is.

"Based on that we thought we'd better let everybody know where we stood."
