McCoy's quest for elusive 3,000 wins goes on

Tony McCoy endured a blank day at Kempton today in his protracted quest to achieve 3,000 British and Irish National Hunt winners.

The 13-times champion jockey had four rides at the Sunbury circuit - and was out of luck with all of them.

He remains frustratingly placed on the 2,998 mark and has not had a winner since Stradbrook was triumphant at Wincanton on January 29.

McCoy is unable to pick up the history-making trail tomorrow as the National Hunt meetings at Exeter, Hereford and Leopardstown have been abandoned.

The jockey refused to get too downhearted, however, and intends to be in action at Plumpton on Monday.

"It was unfortunate that almost all of the meetings I'd planned to go to last week were abandoned," reflected McCoy.

"But I'll keep on going as normal and hopefully will get there (to 3,000 winners) soon.

"Hopefully I'll be at Plumpton on Monday, weather permitting."
