Wetherby abandon Monday card

Monday’s meeting at Wetherby is the latest casualty of the cold snap with the track failing a 9am inspection.

Monday’s meeting at Wetherby is the latest casualty of the cold snap with the track failing a 9am inspection.

Clerk of the course Jonjo Sanderson was forced to make an early check as the venue has been hit by snow and frost over the last week.

He said: “We have seen no improvement all week and we got down to minus five last night, so any bits of the track not covered in snow are now rock hard.

“We are forecast anything between minus four and minus seven tonight and the daytime temperatures just aren’t enough to move any of the frost or snow.

“I would say 85% of the track is still covered in snow, only an inch to an inch and a half, but it hasn’t really moved all week.”
