Early check for Ayr

Saturday’s National Hunt meeting at Ayr will have to pass a 1pm inspection on Friday before being given the green light.

While the Scottish venue is described as predominantly raceable, the prospect of further snow and frost has prompted clerk of the course Katherine Self to announce an early check.

“Whilst the track was probably 90% raceable today we are forecast a few more snow flurries and a cold night tonight,” said Self.

“I feel we need an inspection tomorrow and if we’re raceable then, we’ll do it all again on Saturday.”
