Kempton Friday card in doubt

Kempton’s National Hunt meeting on Friday is subject to a 3pm inspection on Thursday.

Frost covers were put down on the track on Saturday but they are currently covered in snow.

“In view of the forecast, we thought we best have a check as we may get rain, sleet or snow,” said clerk of the course Brian Clifford.

“We are raceable under the covers but we need to see how much snow we have to shift off them.

“It has thawed considerably – we must have lost 10 centimetres – and it will continue to thaw today.

“However, there is still significant snow on the covers.

“One blessing is that no frost is forecast – we just need the weather to be kind to us.”
