Taunton reveal inspection plans

Officials at Taunton have announced an 8am precautionary inspection due an adverse weather forecast.

Although the track is currently raceable, the Somerset venue could be hit by unfavourable overnight elements.

Managing director John Hills said: “The forecast has changed dramatically and we have been told that moving up the Bristol Channel will be a great belt of snow, rain or sleet.

“We can expect anything between zero and 10 millimetres and as we are only 50 feet above sea level, that could be rain.

“We’re not worried about frost, or actually worried about snow, but if we get 10in of rain on a heavy course, it could be difficult.

“We have called a precautionary inspection as we want to see how much rain has fallen by 8am.”
