Weekend run for Andreas

Andreas will attempt to carry top-weight to victory in the williamhill.com Handicap Chase at Doncaster on Saturday.

Paul Nicholls’ former Grand Annual winner has had only the one run this season when well beaten behind Jack The Giant.

Plans are fluid for the nine-year-old at present but with a rating of 159 opportunities are pretty thin on the ground.

“The plan is to run Andreas,” said owner Trevor Hemmings’ racing manager Mick Meagher.

“Although he has top-weight, the horse is fit and well and needs a run.

“Ideally, he would prefer slightly better ground but with such good prize money on offer at Doncaster, the race offers a good opportunity for him.

“Hopefully, he can run well on Saturday and we can then map out a plan for the rest of the season.”
