The 'Cold Feet' star was present at the track to see the 10-11 favourite in action in division one of the Calverts Carpets Novices’ Hurdle.

A decent second on his first start over hurdles, winning bumper performer Riverside Theatre had little trouble in beating Hector’s Choice by four and a half lengths but it looks uncertain as to whether he will be treading the boards at the Cheltenham Festival.

“That wasn’t his ground and I am sure he will be very nice – he is very nice but he’s going to be even better when he is stronger,” said trainer Nicky Henderson.

“I’d had half a mind to put him away after this but I’m not sure. I don’t want to use him up.”

Victor Chandler introduced the winner at 25-1 for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.
