Lingfield for afternoon check

Officials at Lingfield will stage a 3pm inspection this afternoon to assess the prospects for their National Hunt card on Monday.

The track was hit by a deluge of rain overnight and with the track currently unraceable, clerk of the course Neil MacKenzie Ross felt it prudent to call an early check.

“We’re waterlogged in places after 16 millimetres of rain overnight and we are currently not raceable,” said MacKenzie Ross.

“We thought it best to have a look this afternoon and while we have a dry day ahead, we are forecast heavy rain for tonight and in the morning.

“We want to give it every chance but we have to be realistic and if we are not raceable this afternoon we are going to struggle.”
