Planet rocks on for Hobbs

Planet Of Sound teed up a potential outing in the Arkle Trophy by registering his second consecutive victory at Newbury.

Philip Hobbs gelding impressed in an extended two mile and two-furlong event at the track a couple of weeks earlier and despite making a real howler at the penultimate fence, he was accomplished at every other obstacle in the Pheasant Inn Novices Chase.

Sarah Hobbs, the trainer’s wife, said: “He’s a lot more confident now – he used to flatten out in soft ground but after the mistake he just picked up again. The Arkle does take some getting used to – you need to be a bit of a stayer.”
