Notre Pere team consider Leaopardstown appearance
Soft ground could tempt Jim Dreaper to run Notre Pere in the Irish Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown on February 8.
The eight-year-old became the first Irish-trained winner of the Coral Welsh National when he stayed on strongly to beat Cornish Sett by seven lengths in the Chepstow marathon last month.
“The Irish Hennessy is certainly one of the options, but we haven’t decided yet” said the County Dublin trainer.
“He’s done very little since Chepstow. He’s just starting again now, he’s entered in it and I would imagine if the ground is soft, he’ll probably run.
“We’ve nothing definite for him really, we are going to let him tell us.”
Notre Pere has also been given an entry in the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup and is 50-1 with the sponsors for a race his trainer won with Ten Up back in 1975.
