Haydock call earlier check

Haydock have brought forward their inspection to 3pm this afternoon ahead of tomorrow’s meeting.

Officials at the Merseyside track had originally planned to check the course at 8am tomorrow due to frost but they feel it necessary to take an earlier look.

“We’ve got frost covers on but there are places where the frost got through the covers and has frozen some of the bare pieces of ground,” said clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright.

“There is a further frost is forecast tonight so it’s not looking good.

“We will inspect at 3pm as the thinking is if it is frozen then and with the prospect of a frost tonight, there is no way it is realistic we could race tomorrow.”
