Haydock officials are optimistic racing will go ahead on Tuesday despite calling a precautionary inspection at 8am on raceday.

Haydock officials are optimistic racing will go ahead on Tuesday despite calling a precautionary inspection at 8am on raceday.

The track is currently raceable but frost is forecast on Sunday and Monday night.

“We would have been able to race today, but we are putting the frost sheets down,” said clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright.

“All the races will be on the chase course. That only affects one race which was to have been on the traditional hurdles course.

“We’ll move that to the chase course as it’s easier to cover.

“It all depends on the degree of the frost on Monday night, but you’ve got to be reasonably optimistic.

“We are expecting frost on each of the next two nights. As long as there’s nothing too dramatic, we should be fine.”

The going is described as heavy, soft in places.
