Cash boost for Newcastle
Newcastle is increasing prize-money by almost a fifth at its Christmas racing fixture on Saturday, December 20.
It follows the abandonment of their high-profile “Fighting Fifth” card three weeks ago because of the recent cold snap.
Newcastle clerk of the course James Armstrong said: “After the disappointment of losing our major jump racing fixture, we’re delighted to be putting on a great show just a few days before Christmas.
“We’re hoping that the prize-money boost will attract even better horses for racing fans to watch.”
The race that benefits the most from the uplift is the £25,000 (€27,800) Northumberland Chase.
