Ayr frozen off

Tomorrow’s meeting at Ayr has been abandoned with the Scottish track frozen in places.

Clerk of the course Katherine Self called a 1pm inspection 24 hours ago due to the threat of further frost and with the situation showing no signs of improvement, she has taken the decision to call off the card early.

“We’re still frozen in places unfortunately and the showers we were having this morning are clearing away and the temperature is dropping,” said Self.

“The forecast for tonight is around minus four with no wind so it is going to be a proper frost.

“It is not due to get above plus one tomorrow and on that basis, we have no chance of being raceable by first-race time tomorrow.”
