Today’s jumps meeting at Carlisle has been abandoned because of frost.

Officials at the Cumbrian venue had no option but to call off the fixture after an overnight temperature of minus five.

“It got down to minus five overnight and it’s not going to really warm up, and we’ve also got fog as well,” said clerk of the course Andrew Tulloch.

“We were minus two yesterday when the frost only came in from five o’clock till about 11 in the morning.

“It started freezing again at 4pm and went straight down to minus two or three and dropped again this morning.”
